What is it?
The spine and pelvis are connected by ligaments that make up the sacroiliac joint, in many cases the sacroiliac joint. becomes inflamed and causes a lot of pain, When this happens, it is referred to as sacroiliitis or sacroiliac pain.
The inflammation does not always occur in the two sacroiliac joints, but can affect either the left or the right, causing pain in the lower back and buttocks.
Causes
There are several proven causes of sacroiliitis; these include arthritis of the ankylosing spondylitis type which constantly wears down the joints, leading to inflammation and pain and, in the long term, to fusion of the sacroiliac joint. In addition, another common cause is falls and accidents as the sudden impact on the spine and pelvis can inflame the sacroiliac joint.
The overweight also plays a role as it weakens the joints to the point of damaging them, causing pain and constant inflammation. There are some infections that can cause this pathology, although this rarely happens.
Prevention
It is not always easy to prevent sacroiliitis, but there are some measures that can be taken, such as maintaining a good exercise routine including stretching of the tendons, muscles and nerves of the entire spine and lower back.
In addition to that, it is important to maintain a good posture, especially when the work requires long hours of sitting or standing in the same position. Avoiding overweight is also an important preventive measure.
It is advisable to see a specialist, as this will prevent the condition from progressing and affecting the joint completely. That is why in the clinic Chiropractic Health Chiropractic doctors are experienced doctors of chiropractic who can safely treat sacroiliitis using alternative medicine.
Diagnosis
By touch, specialists will feel the hip, lower back and pelvis for any reaction to pain.
However, in some cases, it will be necessary to carry out a magnetic resonance imaging or a radiography que permita al especialista llegar al valoración correcto debido a que muchas veces esta patología se suele confundir con otras enfermedades que se producen en la misma zona.
Treatment
To relieve the pain caused by sacroiliitis, the following may be needed drugs such as analgesics, muscle relaxants and tumour necrosis factor inhibitors, but these will only relieve the pain for a few more hours and will not solve the cause of the pain.
The focus is on exercise and rehabilitation therapies instead of pharmaceuticals.
